Red Power Round Up 2018
Here are several of the Women's Activities that will go on throughout RPRU 2018. We are working diligently on a schedule of events for the show and will post these times as soon as they are available.
Service Project: We will be making fleece/flannel blankets that will be given to a local shelter organization for use with children. Also, we will be putting together small bags that can be handed out to women in homeless shelters or on the street. We are working with a local organization to determine the best way to get these into the hands of the women and children in need. A letter will be going to all IHC Chapters asking for donations, either in the form of material or funding. This is our chance to leave Montgomery a little better and to impact the local community through the generosity of “Tractor Ladies”.
Get Pinterested! – Pinterest is an online craft bonanza. We have gone through and picked out a variety of crafts to bag for a Pinterest Make and Take. These will include:
Papercrafts: Greeting cards, paper flowers, decoupage letters
Up-cycling: cork coasters, button crafts: owl, crosses
Fabric: 10-minute table runner, 5-minute kitchen towel, pillow case
Craft bags can be purchased on-site at a cost of $3 to $18 depending upon the project. Bags will include materials needed to complete the project.
Classes/Lectures: Topics include: Women’s Health, Nutrition, and there will be a Beginning Genealogy class. Specific details will be available as the RPRU schedule is updated.
Quilters – Bring your machine and set up. There will be cutting and ironing stations provided.
DIY Wreaths: It wouldn’t be an Alabama RPRU if we didn’t make a Cotton Wreath. Kasey Bodine will be leading us to complete a wreath with cotton harvested from Alabama cotton farms. The cost will be $20 for a 10” size wreath. She will also be teaching you how to make your own bow for your wreath. Limited to first 30 people.
